Accra, April 2, GNA - Senior Minister J.H. Mensah is acting as the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning following the departure of Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo to Libya, on Thursday, for official assignments.
An official statement from the Ministry said Mr Osafo-Maafo would attend the Board Meetings of the Ghana-Libya Arab Holding Company Limited (GLAHCO) and GLAHCO Hotels and Tourism Development Company Limited (GHTDCO).
Mr Osafo-Maafo, who is the Chairman of the Board of GLACHCO and GHTDCO, would preside over the meeting scheduled for April 5 in Tripoli. He would also hold discussions with the Libyan Minister of Finance on issues of common interest, said the statement.
The Minister would from Libya proceed to Paris, France to participate in the Conference on Financing for Development scheduled for April 8 to April 9.
The event is a follow-up to the Monterrey Conference on Financing for Development, which was held in March 2002. It would bring together Ministers from emerging markets, developing and donor countries, multilateral organisations, key nongovernmental organisation and other stakeholders.
Mr Robert Poku Kyei, Special Advisor to the Minister, accompanied him. He is expected back home on April 12.
