JJ Documentary Shatters NPPs Agenda

Now I Understand Why The People Love Him 10 Year Old Declares After Watching
Metro TV Set To Face Wrath Of NPP
GTV Swears Never To Air Documentary

Metro TV, last Friday, incurred the wrath of officials of the NPP government by showing a detailed documentary on the life of former President Rawlings.

The documentary which was aired for less than an hour, has in the words of a top NPP official, undone all the efforts made by the NPP government to demonize and obliterate the legacy of Jerry Rawlings and the NDC.

A source close to the NPP hierarchy admitted that everything must be done to prevent the repetition of the Rawlings documentary on other television channels. The plan is also to bring pressure to bear on the NPP to get Metro TV to desist from showing it again.

The Lens has since Friday received numerous calls from Ghanaians across the length and breadth of the country urging that attempts be made to get every citizen, home and abroad to watch that documentary again in order to help undo the intricate web of lies and deception that has been woven by the NPP since 2001.

A ten old year girl made the following profound remark after watching the documentary with his parents- œI now understand why the people love Rawlings. She also added, If only he could have stood again, the people will have voted for him.

The Lens text message centre has not been so busy as it had been since last Friday.

Of the many messages received, we put out the following two that represent the tenor of the calls and messages that have been overflowing.

I watched the documentary about JJ yesterday and I was deeply touched and moved to tears not only by the pictures but also by his wise words. I pray that Ghanaians will sit and reflect on everything shown in that documentary. The time has come for the truth to be revealed to especially the younger generation.

Another txt message read as follows- I was watching JJ laying rail tracks with the kids and one of them (9 year old) said- President Rawlings works but Kufuor does not and always wears suit even when the weather is hot!

These testimonies, coming from the lips of infants, show the extent to which, this documentary has begun to systematically dismantle the wicked agenda of the NPP government towards the far reaching accomplishment of the PNDC/NDC.

A source close to the NDC Communication outfit explained to the Lens that the documentary represents just the first step towards the telling of the true story of the Rawlings rule. The source hinted that within a matter of weeks, a comprehensive detailing of sector by sector achievements will be provided the Ghanaian public by key actors who helped Jerry Rawlings to arrest the politico- socio cultural decay of the late 70s and early 80s and set Ghana on a path of sustainable development.

The source added the following: Its time to tell the children the truth. For we have allowed the lies to continue for far too long. This evil rule of the NPP built on lies must now be dismantled. They did the same to Nkrumah in the past; we must not allow them to succeed again.

Meanwhile the Lens can state emphatically that due to the stern warnings issued the authorities of GTV by members of the government the station will not agree to air the documentary even if the NDC is prepared to pay for the full cost of the broadcast.

The talk of press freedom does not apply to us- we risk losing our jobs if we go against express instructions given us by officials of the government, a top official of GTV confided in the Lens under conditions of strict anonymity.
