JJ asked to desist using CJA to insult JAK

The government spokesman on finance, Nana Ohene Ntow has described as unfortunate, comments made by ex-President Rawlings that Mr. Kofi Annan, the United Nations Secretary General was brought into the country and sent to the north to whitewash the murder and other crimes committed there by President Kufuor and his government.

Nana Ohene Ntow was also concerned with another comment by the ex-president at last Saturday?s Wahala demonstration in Takoradi that President Kufuor was trying to use President Bush and Mr. Annan in public relation work to whitewash the alleged crimes committed by this government.

The spokesman on finance who was speaking on a private radio station based in Takoradi asked Mr. Rawlings not to make any attempt to insult the UN Secretary General since he was highly respected all over the world. He advised the former president to as well respect himself and stop insulting President Kufuor anytime he mounted the political platform.

The government spokesman said, it is the duty of every government to develop international relations and this President Kufuor did when he recently called on President Bush at the White House in Washington. He said during the regime of the former president, he also invited ex President Clinton to Ghana.

?So does it mean that ex-President Clinton was brought into this country to cover up the bad deeds of then NDC government. It is unfortunate for an ex president to make these comments, knowing the importance of international relations,? he said.

Nana Ohene Ntow said it is outrageous and very hypocritical for former President Rawlings to also say at the CJA demonstration held last Saturday in Takoradi that government had bought the conscience of some of the journalists in the country who were seriously defending it.

?If what he said at the rally was really the truth, then I will say that he was the first person to have bought the conscience of journalists in the country,? he remarked.

According to Ntow who is also aspiring to become the NPP General Secretary, it was the NDC government headed by Mr. Rawlings that bought Tata buses for journalists whose names, he declined to disclose, using government guaranteed loans.

According to Nana Ntow, one of the buses bought for the journalists in question even had an accident in the Volta region recently, some people lost their lives and the case had been sent to court.

He called on the former president to always tackle issues instead of personalities and it seems as if the Wahala platform had been created by the CJA for the ex-president to always insult the sitting president.

A former deputy western regional minister, S. P. Adamu, who was also on the programme dubbed ?Mpanin Ahyia?, denied that Mr. Rawlings insulted Mr. Annan and that he does not respect him.

Mr Adamu said it was Rawlings and Dr. Obed Asamoah who threw their diplomatic weight behind Mr. Annan to enable him get the post.

According to Adamu, if Rawlings did not like Annan or respect him, he wouldn?t have supported him to get the post and accused Mr. Ntow of trying to twist what the ex president said during the demonstration.
