JJ can’t raise $700,000- NPP Boss

The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Peter Mac Manu says he does not believe that former President Rawlings has been able to raise 700,000 dollars from the US to finance the NDC electioneering campaign in 2008.

He said he has learnt that President Rawlings has placed orders for “T shirts” from China but described the purported fund raising activities and purchase of T-shirts as a sham to scare the NPP.

He said this at a workshop which was organised by the party for the Regional and Constituency Executive in the Upper East Region.

He said “we are not scared of the 700,000 dollars".

“It is a sham and they are using it as play to bring in whatever monies they have stashed somewhere”.

On the contrary, he said that the NPP is ready to make use of its limited resources too match the NDC.

The objective of the Training Workshop, the fifth in the regional series was to equip the party leaders with the appropriate skills in leadership, information management and communication skills.

In addition they would review the 2000 and 2004 presidential and parliamentary results in the region and to devise remedial strategies.

He commended the executives in the region, while expressing optimism that the party will grap seven more seats in the region in 2008.

Nana Ohene Ntow, general secretary of the party reminded the people that the NPP has its roots in the Northern Region through the contributions of people like the late Imoro Salifu and Adani Amandi and therefore urged the people to go back to their roots.
