JJ’s boy begs for job from Mahama

The out-going Member of Parliament for Lower Manya in the Eastern Region Teye Nyaunu (MTN), has started spreading his CV on radio, expressing his willingness to accept appointment from the yet-to-be formed Mahama administration should he be considered worthy.

In a radio interview with Citi FM last Tuesday, the outgoing MP, who boasted about his qualification as accountant who had carved a niche for himself on the political landscape, said in spite of the ruckus that ensued in the run-up to the just ended general elections, he was still a member of the NDC.

He argued that in the course of the brouhaha, the party never served him with a letter indicating that he had been expelled from the party neither did he do same hence, he considered himself as a member of the NDC party.

“I did not really present any resignation letter to any party. If you followed the results from Lower Manya, there was an indication that even my supporters voted for John Mahama. I never considered myself out of the NDC.

They just said it on air and there were no documentations to that effect. Circumstances before the elections are totally different from circumstances after the elections. I am still a member of the NDC,” Michael Teye Nyaunu, insisted.

On the ticket of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Nyaunu nicknamed Maradona, served the people of Lower Manya for 16 years, but was booted out earlier this year at the party’s primary.

After his crash at the NDC primary, Mr Nyaunu who is Ghana’s representative at the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Parliament threatened and indeed, contested the general elections as an independent candidate, defying orders from the party that any member that went independent would be expelled.

Not even warnings from the party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia deterred Mr Nyaunu from contesting the election as an independent candidate, insisting he will win the seat considering his swollen popularity.

But at last Friday’s election, he was shown the exit by the NDC candidate, Ebenezer Teye Larbi in the Parliamentary elections; Mr Nyaunu polled a meager 3,658 votes against the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister’s mouthwatering 24,367 votes.

A qualified accountant, who boasts on excellence in the political landscape, said his political career now depended solely on the president-elect, pointing out that if he (President Mahama) sees the need to offer him the opportunity to serve in his government, he will not even think of it for a minute but accept it wholeheartedly.
