Jacobu Methodist School needs rehabilitation

Jacobu (Ash), Nov. 7, GNA- The Jacobu Methodist Church in the Amansie East District has appealed to the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr Samuel Nkrumah-Gyimah to seek for financial assistance for the rehabilitation of its Kindergarten school.

Rev. K Osei Owusu, Superintendent Minister of the Jacobu circuit of the church who made the the appeal at a thanksgiving service in honour of three departed souls of the church at Jacobu. The Superintendent Minister said effective basic education starts with kindergarten and that there was the need to rehabilitate the school.

Responding, the MP said the government through funds from the HIPC initiative and the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) is supporting communities to build schools.

He, therefore, gave the assurance that efforts would be made to get the government to come to the aid of the church. Mr Nkrumah-Gyimah however, expressed concern about the poor performance of the Jacobu Methodist JSS in recent Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

He said the school was one of the best in the district, which had produced a lot of scholars and urged all stakeholders to help address the problem.

Mr Nkrumah-Gyimah asked the heads of the primary and the JSS to organise open day to enable the past students to attend and also contribute to the school.
