The establishment of a special prosecutor by Nana Addo is targeted at prosecuting corrupt officials both in the present and past administrations. YEN.com.gh reports that the special prosecutor will be Lawyer Akoto-Ampaw.

Lawyer Akoto Ampaw is believed to be a partner of the law firm, Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co whereas Philip Addison was the legal counsel for the NPP during the 2012 election petition.

Meanwhile, the President of the Republic, Nana Akufo-Addo, has allayed the fears of political opponents saying the special prosecutor bill will not result in witch-hunting. The president has stated that the special prosecutor will strictly work with fact and evidence, not hearsay.

Speaking at the NDC unity walk at Techiman, John Mahama argued that he and Lordina are not owners of DKM and that any attempt to investigate them will be futile.

“Thankfully, they are now in power and I will want them to prosecute me and the first lady if it is true the DKM company belonged to us”, Mahama stated.

The DKM scandal follows the scam of various microfinance institutions in the Brong Ahafo Region that allegedly spent investments of residents running into several millions of Ghana cedis.
