Jake wants to be NPP National Chairman

Accra, Sept 29, GNA - Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, one of the candidates vying for the position of National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said he would bring back the confidence that has eluded the leadership and the foot-soldiers of the party when given the position.

"If we want to win power in 2012, then there is the need to reposition ourselves in planning and strategise well, as well as reducing the internal bickering, which will be healthy for the party."

Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey gave the assurance when he met with sympathisers of the party in the La Dadekopon Constituency.

He and said it was about time the party's leadership closed the gap between them top and the foot-soldiers by reinvigorating them, since they are the core of the party at the grassroots.

Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey, who was the national campaign manager of the former President Kufuor's, pointed out that, if given the nod as national chairman, he would "effectively and holistically involve all and sundry in uniting the party to win power come 2012".

He appealed to the electorate to critically assess the achievement of all the contestants vying for the position and choose the one who has a successful record, "because we are going to do a battle from opposition, which is a very difficult one, hence the best choice will propel the party to success."

He called on all party faithfuls to stop the blame-game and rather focus on building the party, to become stronger and face the challenges expected in the 2012 election.
