James Fort Prisons Declared Death Trap

The building built in 1623, which houses about seven hundred inmates mostly on remand, has developed deep cracks with most of the building fallen off.

This came to light when the Minister of the Interior Hackman Owusu Agyemang toured the James Town and the Nsawam Medium Prisons.

The Assistant Director of Prisons in Charge of the James Town Prisons, Alhaji Mohammed Hassani says the government should relocate the prisons from its current location since the building cannot be rehabilitated.

The Director General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Richard Kuuire says the state of the James Town Prisons pose a major security risk to the country
