Tamale, Oct. 16, GNA - The government of Japan has provided a grant of two million dollars to assist victims of last year's floods that devastated the three northern regions. The grant was provided to the Micro-Finance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) to support the hardest hit victims of the floods to restart their lives.
Mr. Lawrence Prempeh, Chief Executive Officer of MASLOC, announced this in Tamale on Thursday when he met with District Chief Executives (DCEs) of the flood affected areas to discuss the modalities for the disbursement of the facility.
Mr Prempeh asked the DCEs to help identify those affected and the kind of enterprise they were involved in before the floods to enable his outfit to determine how much each individual would require. Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris, Northern Regional Minister, urged would-be beneficiaries to use the money judiciously to enable them "get back on their feet".
He commended the Japanese Government for its assistance to the Government of Ghana over the years, noting that the grant would further cement the cordial relationship between the two countries. 16 Oct. 08
