Jefty Christian Int’l School gets computer lab

The Christian Community Microfinance Limited (CCML) in collaboration with Edify Ghana, has opened a computer lab at Jefty Christian International School in Tema.

The initiative forms part of the aim of the collaborative work between the CCLM and Edify Ghana to promote quality education in Ghana through infrastructure financing.

In a statement issued to Ghana News Agency in Accra on Friday, it said the construction of the computer lab was funded through the CCML-Edify loan facility meant for private basic educational institutions, accredited by Ghana Education Service (GES), and accessible in the Accra Metropolitan area for the time being.

It said it is considered as a general purpose loan facility but limited to the educational sector to finance the construction of classrooms, acquisition of school buses and school equipment, procurement of office stationery and books and improvement in school infrastructure.

Mr Ruben Thiessen, Chief Information Officer of Edify said the mission of Edify is to improve and help expand affordable Christ centered schools by using technology to prepare students to be fulfilled in the environment around them.

He noted that the computer lab is also opened to the community.

Mr Kweku Aggrey, Treasurer of CCML, said CCML is excited to be part of a partnership that promotes Christian values through education.

He said education is becoming expensive by the day and as such CCML has tailored financing for parents to enable their kids get access to the best form of education while ensuring consistent cash flow for their future.

Mr Aggrey also mentioned that a CCML-Edify school loan has a low interest rate of 21 per cent per annum which is the best in the market.

Mr Godwin Fiagbor, Director, Technology Solutions, Edify explained that the Edify technology used for the computer lab is cost efficient and economical with 11 computers running on one server.

He said the lab has been furnished with software to improve education not only in ICT but in all other subject on the GES educational curriculum such as Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.
