A 39-year-old man at Anaji in Sekondi-Takoradi has committed suicide after he was jilted by the girlfriend.

According to sources, the deceased, Kwame Ntiako Aboagye, a tailor, stabbed himself repeatedly near the Takoradi Technical University (TTU) on Thursday, March 29, 2018.

The lifeless body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Effia Nkwanta morgue pending autopsy.

A vendor, who narrated the incident, indicated that she was selling fruits at about 3 pm on Thursday, March 29, 2018 when the Kwame approached her and asked for a knife to do something.

“So I thought the deceased was a driver who wanted to use the knife to do some work on his vehicle.”

“I suddenly realised that the man used the knife to stab himself repeatedly. The deceased stabbed himself repeatedly amidst shouts of “what I have bumped into this afternoon is very shocking,”she added.

According to the vendor, onlookers chased the deceased but he ran quickly into the bush near TTU Park where he continued to stab himself.

He was finally rushed to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

She noted that a mobile phone, SSNIT ID card and wallet, which contained an amount of GH?401.50, were found on him after a search.

ASP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), confirmed that the incident occurred on March 29, 2018 at about 3:40pm.

She, however, could not confirm whether the deceased was indeed jilted by the girlfriend.

She noted that the deceased, who lived at I.Adu near Anaji, stabbed himself several times in the stomach and subsequently cut his throat at the TTU Park.

According to the police PRO, the deceased was rushed to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekobdi for treatment but he died shortly.

“The body of the deceased has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy,” she added.
