Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has emphasized that he only had a working relationship with former President John Dramani Mahama when he served as Head of Communications at the presidency.

According to him, he did not see his position as a compulsion to strike a personal relationship with Mr. Mahama, who was vice president to Prof. John Evans Atta Mills.

“He and I were never friends until President Mills made him his running mate. That morning, when President Mills called at Kuku Hills that he was going to make John Mahama his running mate, we had conversations, and I told him, ‘Sir, he is your choice, and I have no opinion on this matter. Once he is your choice, we will work with him,’” he told Kwame Nkrumah Tikese of Okay FM in an interview.

“It was a working relationship. I am under no obligation to fall in love with John Mahama,” he added.

In recent years, Koku Anyidoho has been very critical of John Mahama and the current leadership of the NDC.

Asked if he was peeved in any way against John Mahama, Anyidoho admitted to harboring sentiments against Mahama for failing to build Asomdwe Park, the burial site of the late President Mills, and failing to honour the legacy of his late boss.

“Of course, I was upset because he refused to give credit where credit is due,” he said.
