John Mahama launches his website

The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, announces the launch of his new website: www.vpghana.gov.gh .

With this new website, Mr. Mahama, a former Minister of Communications, who is being widely hailed as one of the most technologically adept leaders in Africa, hopes to keep citizens well informed of his activities and of current, important developments in the nation.

One of the many postings on this new website is an article written by Mr. Mahama that is featured in the current issue of BBC’s Focus on Africa magazine, titled “Listen Carefully.”

In the article, Mr. Mahama draws a parallel between the current wave of democracy in Africa, from the Northern countries to the sub-Saharan countries, and the movement for independence from colonialism that began over five decades ago, with Ghana leading the way as the first sub-Saharan nation to gain its independence.

With this article, which also stresses the importance of leaders taking note of the needs and desires of their citizens, Mr. Mahama has again revealed himself to be among a new brand of African leadership, one that is paving the way toward progress, development, and stability on the continent.

The Vice President is an avid writer and has had numerous articles published in various local and international publications and newspapers, all of which can be found on his new website.

It was earlier announced that Mr. Mahama’s forthcoming book, My First Coup d’Etat and Other True Stories From the Lost Decades of Africa, which has already received critical acclaim from the legendary Kenyan author Ngugi wa Thiong’o, Commonwealth Prize winner Aminatta Forna, and US National Book Andrew Solomon, will be published worldwide in June 2012 by Bloomsbury, a highly respected publishing house based in the US and the UK.
