Jomoro Police investigating death of a mental patient

John Agohah, a 44-year-old herbalist, and his wife Comfort Logo are assisting the Police in Jomoro District, in their investigations into the death of Kweku Hammond Techiem, a mental patient.

The Jomoro District Police Commander, Superintendent (Sup) John Ferguson Dzineku, told the Ghana News Agency at Half-Assini that, the body of the deceased was found along the seashore at Anlomatope on April 1 at 0630 hours.

He said Agohah, a citizen of Ehi in the Volta Region, resided at Anlomatope near Half-Assini in the Western Region, and the deceased, a citizen of Ampia in the Ajumako District, in the Central Region, was sent to the herbalist for treatment by his father about one-and-half months ago.

Sup. Dzineku said the herbalist travelled to Ahobre near Half-Assini and left the deceased in the care of Logo, and whilst the herbalist was away, his wife informed him on phone that Techiem has been found dead along the beach.

Sup. Dzineku said the herbalist reported the matter to the Police and assumed that Techiem died of drowning.

The District Police Commander said inspection on the body by the police, revealed cuts under the deceased’s testicles with bruises on the body, which indicated a foul play.

He said the body of the deceased had been deposited at Half-Assini Government Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.**
