Juaben MP didn’t boycott Paramount Chief’s thanksgiving service - Spokesperson

MP for Juaben, Ama Pomaa Boateng MP for Juaben, Ama Pomaa Boateng

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Juaben, Ama Pomaa Boateng, has refuted allegations that she refused to attend the thanksgiving service of the Paramount Chief of the Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Otuo Serebour II, on Sunday April 30, 2017.

A group calling itself the Concerned Youth of Juaben Constituency had earlier issued a statement to condemn the legislator over what it said was disrespect for deliberately absenting herself from the ceremony.

They also alleged that the MP had not visited the Constituency since she won the elections.

However, George Opoku Amponsah, the spokesperson of the MP, has said the allegations are false.

According to him, the MP had already made plans to travel before she received the invitation. He said the MP sent a delegation with gifts to be delivered during the thanksgiving.

Below is the full statement:

IGNORE THE FALSEHOOD AGAINST HON AMA POMAA, MP FOR JUABEN CONSTITUENCY

We thank you for attending our press briefing at such a short notice.

We have gathered here today to clear the falsehood being peddled against Hon Ama Pomaa Boateng, MP for Juaben constituency by some faceless entities who are hiding behind politically stooge individuals who calls themselves Concerned Youth of Juaben constituency.

In a press release issued by the so called concerned youth, certain issues were raised which we believe are palpable falsehood aimed at tarnishing the hard - won reputation and image of this hardworking MP.

Among the allegations were the MP's inability to attend the thanksgiving service of the Paramount chief of Juaben traditional area who doubles as the chairman of council of state, Daasebre Otuo Serebour II on Sunday, 30th April, 2017. They also stated that the MP has never visited the constituency after the 2016 elections.

We wish to state emphatically that, the MP got her invitation to the said thanksgiving on Thursday, 27th April, 2017. At that time, the MP had concluded her travel arrangement to the USA for an equally important engagement just the following day and so she quickly arranged for some items to presented to the Juaben traditional council as her contribution to the said thanksgiving service.

We wish to again state that, Hon Ama Pomaa had never absented herself from the annual thanksgiving service of Juaben traditional council since she became the MP for the Juaben constituency for which reason she was given a citation by the organising committee (Juaben Local Council of Churches) in collaboration with the Juaben traditional council when the event was held in January, 2016. It is highly unfortunate that she could not attend the recent event.

On the issue of not visiting the constituency, Hon Ama Pomaa has a comprehensive schedule which guides her visit to the constituency aside emergency visits. She has visited the constituency more than 12 times after 2016 elections. Residents of Atia, Abetinim, Dumakwae, Ofoase, New Koforidua, Nobewam, Juaben, Buamadumase, Bankoroagya just to mention a few can attest to this fact.

Just last week Tuesday, the Hon MP met with all the Assembly members of Juaben constituency with their respective unit committee members to discuss how to utilise the $ 1 million per constituency as promised by the Nana Akufo Addo's government and to draw a pragmatic programme to ensure the smooth take - off of the one district one factory project of the government.

We wish to state that, if these seemingly unscrupulous attitude of those cowards do not stop, we will descend the gutters with them and expose each of them. He who seeks equity must come with clean hands. A word to the wise is enough.

Thank you.

Signed
Hon Emmanuel Gallo
