Juaben (Ash), Sept 28, GNA--The Juaben Government Hospital has launched a programme under which sporting activities, especially soccer, will be organised and used as forums for educating the youth on health-related issues.
The programme which was initiated by Dr Kwaku Yeboah Kesse, medical officer in-charge of the hospital, is also designed to enhance co-operation and goodwill among the staff of the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the local communities.
The programme was launched at Juaben with a football match between the staff of the Ejisu/Juaben MOH and their Sekyere East district counterparts.
It ended 5-2 in favour of Sekyere East MOH. Launching the programme, Dr Kesse advised Ghanaians not to perceive sporting activities as only a source of entertainment but also as an opportunity to improve on their physical fitness.
He explained that such exercises on a regular basis can help control hypertension and other heart-related Diseases. Dr Kesse said since majority of Ghanaians, especially the youth, are very much attracted to sports, the forum should be used to reach-out to them with vital health messages.
