Judges To Go On Strike

Some judges in the country are allegedly contemplating on embarking on a strike action to drive home their demand for their outstanding allowance, which remain unpaid since January this year.

These allowances include clothing, overtime, petrol and car maintenance.

Meanwhile, Mr. Owusu Ansah, the Judicial Secretary, has dismissed the speculation that judges would be embarking on a strike action to demand the payment of allowances.

According to him, no judge would contemplate on a strike action for a demand, adding that such an agitation is not a tool for the judiciary.

He, however, admitted that some allowances have not been paid since the beginning of the 2003 fiscal year.

He explained that this was due to a limit set by the Ministry of Finance for every institution on the withdrawal of money.
