Juju Boy Nabbed

Twenty-two-year-old Joseph Nii Lamptey has been arrested by the Dansoman Police for attempting to kill his bosom friend for ritual purposes.

The suspect allegedly lured the friend, Benjamin Addy, to the house of the spiritualist to be killed at Dansoman when the police pounced on him.

Narrating the story to DAILY GUIDE, ASP Christopher Owusu, the Dansoman crime officer, said Lamptey was an unemployed man living at Kasoa in the Central Region.

According to the police, the suspect sighted posters with the phone number of a spiritualist and contacted the person, asking for spiritual help to “get rich quick.”

On Thursday, October 11, 2012, the supposed Mallam, who is actually a proprietress of a school, received a telephone call from Joseph that he wanted her to assist him to “get rich quick.”

The woman, who is not the spiritualist, initially declined and hanged up on the suspect.

The following day, the suspect called the spiritualist again insisting that he saw the posters advertising the spiritualist’s number in town, adding that he was willing to offer her anything including a human being to enable her to assist him to get money.

The woman, who is the complainant, feigned interest and consequently asked the suspect who he was willing to use for the said rituals.

On Wednesday, October 17, 2012, the suspect took a photograph of his former girlfriend who he named as Deborah to be used but the complainant declined and insisted that he bring the girl in person.

The suspect complained that it was difficult to bring the said Deborah for the rituals since she was based in Kumasi but he promised to bring someone else.

On Friday, October 19, 2012, the suspect lured his bosom friend, Benjamin, to the complainant’s place to be used for the rituals.

The police was immediately informed and the suspect was arrested.

Lamptey admitted to the offence in his caution statement. He would be put before court for attempted murder.
