Dzodze, June 5, GNA - The Ketu North branch of the United Cadre Front (UCF) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Friday undertook a three-hour clean up exercise at the Saint Anthony Hospital at Dzodze. The exercise, undertaken in collaboration with Zoomlion Company Ltd, was to mark this year's anniversary of the 1979 June 4 uprising. Numbering about 100, members of the group weeded, swept and collected rubbish within the facility.
Mr. Moses Azaglo, Ketu North constituency chairman of the party and leader of the group, said the event remained a water shed dividing the country's unstable political past after the over throw of the Kwame Nkrumah regime and the present.
The event, he said, regenerated a new reawakening about what probity, accountability and transparency meant for good governance and development and the responsibility of the people to put political leadership on its toes.
Mr Azaglo asked the people "not to allow the enemies of progress to wish away the ideals of the day which brought about a healthier participatory democracy and respect for human rights". Paying tribute to the architects of the June 4 up rising, he said "history will forever judge them right." Mr Tesu Dotsey, Constituency Propaganda Secretary noted that June 4 placed Ghana on a better socio-political pedestal despite the excesses that marked its very beginning. 2 June 10
