Kumasi, Oct. 22, GNA - The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and H.I.M. Solutions Ghana Ltd. Have signed a memorandum of understanding to initiate a Web presence to put the Kumasi Metropolis on the Internet. The Web presence projects is aimed at boosting the investment drive embarked upon by the KMA and all of its allied agencies as well as to showcase the rich culture of the people of Kumasi, Ashanti and Ghana as a whole.
This was contained in a press statement issued by the KMA and signed by Mr Kwame Frimpong, Public Relations Officer.
Under the memorandum, H.I.M. Solutions Ghana (a result oriented ICT firm with most of its operations in the USA and Ghana) will develop and maintain the Web page to be known as www.kumasimetro.org. H.I.M. Solutions Ghana will provide the technical know-how for the development, hosting and maintenance of the Website.
The Mayor of Kumasi, Mr Maxwell Jumah and the Metro Co-ordinating Director, Mr Albert A. Ampong, initiated for the KMA, while the CEO of H.I.M. Solutions Ghana, Dr Justice Croffie Jnr. and the Managing Director Mr Emmanuel Assan initiated for the latter.
According to the release, information about the KMA, Office of the Mayor (News &. Press release, Photo Gallery, Biography, Mayoral and City Agencies etc), Information Services (Residents, Businesses, Visitors, Government etc), Online Forms (Bid on City Contracts, Birth Certificates, Property Info etc).
Will feature prominently on the KMA Web page.
Others are Kumasi right now, Did you know Section, Education, Interactive and complaints section, Section Dedicated to Assembly Members and the Monarch of Ashanti Kingdom, Asantehene and all of the activities of his office, City By-Laws and other legislative instruments about KMA.
Commenting on the project, Mr Jumah said Kumasi had reached a stage in its development where it needed to register its presence on the World Wide Web.
He said as the cultural, tourism and economic heartland of the country, it was imperative that the City adopted modern trends and technologies to market its vast potentials to the investment world. Mr Jumah observed that with the presence of a progressive King like Otumfuo Osei Tutu, prestigious research and educational institutions coupled with highly skilled workforce, Kumasi should be a natural first choice destination for investment in the country, the release said.
"What we are attempting to do is to use the Internet to project Kumasi as a tourism and investment destination of choice in Ghana so as to induce the inflow of the needed capital required to develop our potentials."
The Kumasi Metro Chief Executive appealed to all government departments and the business community to support the project in any way possible to ensure its sustenance.
The KMA Web page, he stressed would be put at the disposal of other Kumasi-based businesses and other research institutions to enable them to spring into the international market.
