The first edition of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly’s (KMA) bi-weekly newspaper, “Kumasiano”, made its debut on Tuesday.
The eight-page periodical, which would highlight development projects and programmes of the Assembly, would be freely distributed.
It would be placed at hotels, restaurants, airport lounges and other designated public places as part of the drive to market Kumasi and bring governance closer to the people.
An amount of GHc30,000.00 was raised at its launch in support of the publication.
Mr Kojo Bonsu, the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), said it would be financed through advertisements and individual contributions.
He gave the assurance that its contents would provide gratification to the reading public, adding that the core values of the journalism profession would be upheld.
The editorial board would welcome feature articles, news items and other write ups from the public.
The concerns and pieces of advice by individuals and institutions would be also carried, he added.
Nana Owusu Piasah II, immediate past Presiding Member of the Assembly, hailed the MCE for the initiative.
