POULTRY MAGNATE, Rev. Kwabena Darko, last Saturday had an honorary doctorate degree conferred on him by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
It is in recognition of his immense contribution to the poultry industry and animal husbandry in the country.
Rev. Dr. Darko has also contributed to the growth of the department of Animal Science of KNUST and the creation of job avenues for KNUST products.
The poultry farmer par excellence was among nine prominent personalities, including Nigeria's former Head of State, Gen. (Dr) Abdul Salami Abubakar, who were honoured by KNUST with honourary degrees at a special congregation to mark the Golden Jubilee celebration of the university.
Rev. Dr. Darko, a devout Christian, responding on behalf of his colleagues, said the honour done them would encourage the youth to realize the need to take up the challenge in any field of human endeavour open to them.
He started the now famous Darko Farms in 1967 with 900 birds.
