KNUST honour lecturer for raising over two billion cedis

Kumasi, April 9, GNA - The authorities of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) at the weekend honoured Mr Ralph Nyadu-Addo, Liaison Officer for Industrial and professional Relations (IPR) of the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS), for raising over two billion cedis from financial institutions and industry to support the college.

He received a plaque accompanied with a citation. Presenting the award to him Professor Daniel Buor, Provost of the College of Arts and Social Sciences, said apart from raising cash and equipment, Mr Nyadu-Addo has been promoting the image of the KNUST through the presentation of papers at international workshops. He praised him for instituting the entrepreneurship and small business management course where students pass out with certificates. Mr Nyadu-Addo has instituted an annual programme dubbed "Time with the Masters" that brings together industrial experts and successful alumni to interact and share ideas with the college. Prof Buor said another activity that brought the award was that Mr Nyadu-Addo, who is also a lecturer, initiated a programme to obtain 500,000 euros European Union grant to establish an African Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Network Centre of Excellence with its headquarters at the KNUST.

The university authorities also honoured Dr (Mrs) Wilhemina Donkor, also a lecturer, for promoting and advancing academic activities of the College in her capacity as the Co-ordinator for Intra College Seminar.

Receiving the award Mr Nyadu-Addo commended the university authorities for the honour done him and said this would spur him on to do more to raise the image of the university.

The university also honoured six financial institutions and corporate bodies for their support that include the provision of financial support, equipment, sponsoring of trips and development of education.

They are HFC Bank Ghana, Ghana Commercial Bank, Ghana Association of Bankers, Compuprint Limited, Packaging Logistics and VALCO Trust. Each of the institutions received a plaque and a citation.
