The Asantehene and Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has made another attempt at resolving the standoff between government and labour unions at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology over the representation on the governing council.
The processes for the reconstitution of a new governing council for KNUST has hit a snag due to an ensuing impasse between the government and the unions of the school over who qualifies to be a member of the council.
Speaking to Starr News, National President of UTAG Dr. Eric Opoku Mensah expressed hope the Chancellor will help find an amicable solution to the raging issue.
He however noted there is no guarantee that a desired outcome will emerge out of the meeting.
KNUST has been closed down for about 2 weeks following a violent student protest against management of the school.
The new council was scheduled to be constituted by last week Friday, but the impasse has stalled the move.
Meanwhile, the planned reopening of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) today is uncertain following the deadlock.
