KNUST inducts new SRC Executives into office

Kumasi, Feb. 5, GNA - A six-member new executive of the Students' Representative Council (SRC) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), was on Saturday inducted into office to begin a one-year term at a ceremony in Kumasi.

The new leaders who were elected last year, has Mr. David Asante-Boateng as President and Miss Elizabeth Hassan as Vice-President with Miss Dorcas Ayirakwa, as secretary.

Other members are Mr. Rexford Sasu, Deputy Secretary, Miss Francisca Kusi-Appiah, Treasurer and Mr. Adomako Kusi-Appiah, Public Relations Officer (PRO).

In an address, Professor Kwesi Andam, Vice Chancellor of the KNUST, called on the new leaders to be transparent in their activities so as to justify the confidence reposed in them by the student body. He gave the assurance that the university was committed to improving upon its hostel facilities to enable majority of the students to get accommodation on campus.

Professor Andam said the University was also putting in place measures to replace all obsolete and outmoded equipment at its laboratories and workshops.

He was hopeful that the move would facilitate research work and other academic activities of the students and lecturers. Mr. Maximus Adu-Sarfo, out-going SRC President of the KNUST, commended the University authorities for their support during his tenure and promised that his team would continue to give their support to the new leadership.

Mr. Asante-Boateng, the new elected President, cautioned the students to always abide by the tenets of the Council's constitution to ensure discipline on campus. 05 Feb. 06
