The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is set to admit over 23,000 extra students in 2020.

According to management, the university is well-positioned to admit more students from the first batch of Free SHS students.

There have been growing concerns over whether the various tertiary institutions would be able to absorb all the students coming out of the second cycle institutions.

Responding to this, Acting University Relations Officer, James Oberko said KNUST will have no problem admitting more students.

He said the university has expanded its infrastructure and will be in a position to admit 23, 000 more students next year (2020).

Currently, KNUST has a student population of just about 55,000, Mr. Oberko further revealed.

“KNUST set off to increase access to the University by expanding its infrastructure and as you’ve seen from our visit, we’ve done a lot and we’ve a lot. We are almost close to finalizing it and when all the infrastructure are set, KNUST will be in a position to admit about 23,000 more students,” he said following a media tour to inspect some infrastructural projects in the school.
