KRB meets needs of needy student

Mampong (Ash), Nov. 5, GNA- The Kwamaman Rural Bank (KRB) has given out 5.8 million cedis as scholarship to 58 brilliant but needy Junior Secondary School (JSS) students in the bank's operational areas. Mr Samuel Owusu Bannehene, the branch manager of the Asante Mampong agency of KRB, which has its headquarters at Kwamang in the Sekyere West district, announced this when he presented 600,000 cedis to six students at Mampong.

The beneficiaries, who are wards of the bank's shareholders, were given 100,000 cedis each to cover school fees and other expenses for the first term of 2003 academic year.

Mr Bannehene said the award was in fulfilment of the bank's social responsibility towards assisting needy students, especially wards of shareholders.

He advised the beneficiaries to study hard in order to justify the investments made by the bank.

Mr Samuel Wiafe, the Board chairman, joined Mr Bannehene to present the money to the beneficiary students.

He said plans were underway to adjust the value of the scheme upwards to reflect the realities of life.
