The Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi Dorani, has stated that his predecessor, Kobina Tahir Hammond, underestimated his chances of winning the seat in the December 7 parliamentary elections.
Speaking in an interview on Kasapa FM on Thursday, January 9, 2025, Godwin Dorani attributed his victory to consistent hard work and the trust of his constituents.
"He took me for granted; he thought I was a small boy. He has been in Parliament for a very long time and has amassed much wealth. That is why I thank my constituents for believing in me, trusting me, and giving me this victory. I didn’t relax — I worked so hard. By God’s grace, everything I did and said was heard by the people, and they gave me this chance," he noted.
Godwin Dorani further reiterated his commitment to bringing meaningful change to the Adansi Asokwa constituency.
“All that I did and all that I said were heard by my people, and they gave me this chance. I’m also praying to work very hard not to let my people down,” he added.
In the December 7 election, Godwin Dorani garnered 14,229 votes, defeating the long-serving MP Kobina Tahir Hammond, who secured 13,275 votes.
