Authorities of the Kumasi Academy Senior High School are decongesting overcrowded dormitories as the school weaves its way out of the outbreak of H1N1 Viral Influenza which has killed four students and infected over a fifty others.

The decision it is gathered comes on the back of a meeting held between the authorities of the school, the Ashanti Regional minister Simon Osei Mensah and the Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive Seidu Alidu.

Disclosing this to Ultimate FM’s Ivan Heathcote – Fumador, the MCE Alidu Seidu indicated that an uncompleted dormitory, an abandoned library project and an ironing hall have been earmarked for speedy works to accommodate the students.

“There is one uncompleted dormitory that was started by the PTA and we are in constant talks with them and we are trying to finish the second and the third floor and it is our wish that by the time they return to school from the holidays they are fixed.”

“There is also another library which was started by president Kufuor in the year 2004. We also intend fixing the place temporarily to make it a solution to the immediate problem that we have at hand. “

“Behind one house too, we have an ironing hall that has been abandoned and we intend to get the place fixed,” he outlined.

He indicated that the authorities of the school are still awaiting the vaccines being secured by the Health Ministry from the World Health Organisation as ten students remained in the Kumasi South Hospital, KNUST Hospital and the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital complaining of various ailments.

The Hon. Alidu Seidu also divulged that the Asokore Mampong Assembly under his watch is looking forward to lobbying the Health Ministry to extend vaccinations to the immediate communities surrounding the Kumasi Academy specifically Sepe, Asokore Mampong and the areas between the campus of the school and Sawaba.
