KUMASI LIONS CLUB HOLDS CHARITY DANCE

The Kumasi Royal Lions Club has held its second annual dinner dance to raise funds in aid of charity for the Ashanti Region. The guest of honour was the Counsellor of DANIDA in Ghana, Mr.. Jorgen Carlser. In his report, the Immediate Past President of the Kumasi Royal Lions Club, Dr.. Kumanin Asare said the club spent thirty million cedis within the past two years on charity. Some of the activities were presentation of items to the Childrens Homes, Babies Homes and the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and the screening of persons for various eyes defectd at Bekwai, Asante-Mampong and the Neoplan Bus Station in Kumasi. The club also organised lectures on AIDS and Career Guidance for students of the UST. The President of the Kumasi Royal Lions Club, Mr.. Isaac Boadi Asamoah said the Club will continue to support educational activities in the region. It will also encourage and promote high ethical standards in commence, industry and professions and private endeavours in the region. In his address, Mr.. Jorgen Carisen, commended the Kumasi Royal Lions Club for its concern for the welfare of the needy and under-privileged in society. He charged members not to only promote the welfare of the handicapped and the needy will also serve as an inspiration to the youth to take on the challenge of selfless services to their communities. Over four million cedis was raised at the Dinner Dance.
