The District Chief Executive for the Kasena-Nankana West District Assembly, Gerard Ataogye, has broken ground for the commencement of work on one of government’s top priority projects ‘One Village, One Dam’ in Kajelo, one of the beneficiary communities.
The Kajelo project which has already kicked off earnestly is first of six dams allocated the district and five more will be constructed at Paga-Sakaa, Kazugu, kuliyaa,Katiu-Saa and Kayoro communities in the coming weeks.

He was particularly happy that the community will as from the next farming season make use of the dam to cultivate lands that could have otherwise become unusable because of the lack of water.
The DCE said the dam had come at a time when it is most needed and urged the community members to embrace the project to enable them engage in their farming activities all year round.
The DCE added when the project is completed it will provide ready source of drinking water for livestock and also for constructional purposes.
He touched on the NPP 2016 campaign message and stressed that the commencement of work in the community will silence skeptics who doubted that the Nana Addo administration will be able to execute the policy.
“The project is in fulfillment of government’s commitment in ensuring food security and improving the lives of people in farming communities through agriculture. It has not been easy but I am also glad that this project that is being constructed will prove those who doubted the president wrong”. He said.
The DCE asked members of the Kajelo community to continuously have faith in government to deliver on its promises. He urged them to lend their support to the contractor and his workers so as to create a suitable environment for them to perform their duties efficiently.
The site engineer for the construction firm, Dooda Gaspard, said his outfit was committed to working diligently to complete the project before scheduled time. He said the experience of Timeline and Innovations Company Limited gathered from handling similar projects will help them do a good job for the district.
The District engineer, Aneateba Bertinus, gave the assurance of the assembly in seeing to it that proper work is carried out. He said the assembly will work closely with the construction firm to ensure smooth execution of the project. Mr. Aneateba cautioned the contractor against shoddy work that could emanate from the want and rush to beat schedule.
