Keep cemeteries, waterworks tidy - Opinion Leader

Winneba (C/R), Aug. 19, GNA - An Opinion Leader at Winneba, Mr J. K. Eduful, has suggested to Churches and the Moslem community to form task forces to keep cemeteries and the water head works tidy at least once every fortnight.

They should also extend their work to other public places including educational facilities in the area.

He was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) about the unhygienic condition at the Winneba Water Head Works and the unkempt state of public cemeteries after a visit to the facilities on Wednesday. He said it was wrong for people to leave the maintenance of the public facilities to the few hands of the Ghana Water Company and the District Assembly.

Mr Eduful said it was about time communities managed such public places and facilities provided by the Government with taxes, grants and other donor assistance instead of seeing them as Government property. He said, "if we learn to manage state property very well it will cut down the annual budget for the rehabilitation of such facilities so that Government can the excess funds to provide more social facilities for the people especially in rural communities".
