President John Mahama has urged Ghanaian voters to keep their thumbs safe ahead of the 7 December polls so they could vote without any problems.

Addressing a rally at Sabronum in the Asunafo South East constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr Mahama said: “Nobody should entertain any fear on Election Day. The law allows you to vote as a Ghanaian regardless of which part of the country you find yourself. On Election Day come out and vote.”

“Prepare your thumbs very well. We are exactly a month away from Election Day, just 30 days to go. I wouldn’t want anything to happen to your thumb within the one month.

“Especially, my wives and sisters, when chopping tomatoes and onions in the kitchen, be careful so you don’t hurt your thumbs,” he advised.

“Take good care of the thumb for me. Why am I saying this? This is a serious message I’m putting across because the biometric verification devices will reject you on voting day if you hurt your fingers. This is why I’m giving you this message. It’s a serious matter. So my wives when chopping the tomatoes, take good care of your thumbs for me okay?” Mahama added.
