The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has inaugurated an 11-member committee to validation committee to validate traders to resettle at the new Kejetia market.

The 11-member committee are Nana Agyenim Boateng Amoamanhene, Ohene Owusu Afriyie Otumfour Apagyahene, Hon Alexander Kesse Convener KMA Trade and Industry Committee Committee, Juliana Nsiah, Deborah Okrah, Theresah Okrah, Maame Thersah Osei Tut, Lawyer Patrick Adu Poku, Yaa Oforiwaa and others.

A joint Police/Military team in collaboration with KMA authorities on June 24, 2015 marched to the Kejetia Bus Terminal to eject traders and transport operators at the place to pave way for the reconstruction of the facility.

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Boss Hon Osei Assibey Antwi speaking at a meeting with the leaders of the traders in Kumasi said the 11-member will ensure smooth validation process for the affected traders.

According to Hon Osei Assibey Antwi the assembly is embarking on validation exercise to get all legitimate Kejetia traders back as the first phase of the 248 million Euro Kejetia/ Central Market Re-development project nears completion.

The committee is expected to validate 4000 traders every year.

“The validation process is to help ensure that the stores were allocated to the rightful owners after completion. The process will involve capturing vital data – personal and business information on the traders to aid their smooth resettlement” he revealed.

Hon Osei Assibey gave the assurance that all affected traders would get their stores back and therefore urged them to comply with the rules and regulations by the 11-member committee.
