Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, has accused his fellow scribe Johnson Asiedu Nketia, of allegedly, secretly supplying authorities of Bui Dam construction blocks when the NDC was in power.

Addressing corruption allegations leveled against the Akufo-Addo-led administration by the General Secretary of the NDC, Ken Agyapong said when he (Asiedu Nketia) awarded himself the Board Chairman of Bui Dam, he was covertly selling blocks for purposes of construction of the dam.

According to him, people like Asiedu Nketia and the NDC have no right to castigate the NPP for what they say is their involvement in “conflict of interest” situations or tag them as corrupt because he is equally ‘crooked’.

Ken Agyapong, speaking on Net2 TV stated,

“If any ordinary person than Asiedu Nketia had tagged the NPP of being corrupt I wouldn’t have any problem. I want Ghanaians to remember something, was it not Asiedu Nketia who was the Board Chairman for Bui Dam and was supplying them with blocks? Is that not classified as conflict of interest”?

“I told my party but because they were overjoyed with the election victory that they didn’t pay attention. Asiedu Nketia transported money in a water tank as interest made in his block business. The NPP is not learning from history, and we are making a lot of mistakes that permits people like Asiedu Nketia to tag us corrupt”.

Asiedu Nketia who spoke to the media last Tuesday, enumerated several alleged corruption cases recorded under this NPP government to justify the NDC’s corruption tag against President Akufo-Addo and his administration.

Mr. Nketia asserted that the President is not in sync with the realities on the ground and described his alleged corruption achievements as “hollow.”

But Ken Agyapong said the NDC’s accusations lack substance and if they want to address corrupt leaders in the nation, they should, among other things, first tell Ghanaians the exact amount they spent on building the airport (terminal 3).

“I want the NDC’s understanding of corruption? How much did the airport they built cost? Opuni has impending court issues, why don’t you ask him how much it cost to buy the spoilt chemicals and how much he sold it to Ghanaians?

“I think the NPP cannot talk about such issues, we are complacent because we think we’re in power now and all of a sudden the NDC has the guts to turn all the bad deeds on us for them to be seen as angels. Name one person that was accused of corruption that Mahama was able to fire when the NDC was in power, compare the legacies of Mahama and Akufo-Addo”, he added.
