Ken Ofori-Atta trends for allegedly offering GH¢1,000 per post to influencers to promote him online

Ken Ofori-Atta is the former Minister of Finance

Ken Ofori-Atta, former Minister of Finance, has come under heavy backlash following a disclosure by social media influencer, Kalyjay that he and others were allegedly offered an amount of GH¢1,000 per every tweet to promote Ofori-Atta.

Other trending topics are #NSMQSemis, Botwe, Kalyjay, Augusco, Presec, and NGOs.

Here is a breakdown of why these topics are trending:

Ken Ofori-Atta

The former Minister of Finance is trending after social media influencer Kalyjay disclosed on X that he and other influencers were paid GH¢100, instead of a promised GH¢1000 each, to promote Ofori-Atta on X during the cedi depreciation and the domestic debt exchange, which resulted in many Ghanaians' investments being locked up by the government.

Ghanaians are criticising the government and Ofori-Atta for allegedly offering to pay influencers instead of using those funds to develop the country.

Botwe

The Mfantsipim Boys have qualified for the next stage of the NSMQ after defeating eight-time champions, PRESEC, in a tough contest.

Both schools performed admirably, scoring 53 points each, but a tiebreaker question determined the outcome.

Mfantsipim correctly answered the question, edging past PRESEC and Osei Tutu SHS to reach the finals.

PRESEC

The eight-time champions of the National Science and Maths Quiz, who were on a quest to win their ninth trophy, have been eliminated from the competition after falling behind Mfantsipim SHS in a tough contest.

Kalyjay

The Ghanaian influencer exposed on X how the government allegedly offered him $50,000 to stop criticising its actions.

Additionally, Kalyjay claimed that the government suggested he creates an NGO, into which the proposed $50,000 would be deposited.

He is trending along with NGOs.
