Former Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has called the bluff of his fellow New Patriotic Party (NPP) member, Kennedy Agyapong, who has threatened to form his own party if the current national executives are retained in office.
According to him, the Assin Central MP who is one of the major financiers of the party, would not be able to break away from the NPP because of his desire to see the party succeed.
“…I know how he loves the NPP. Ken can never form his own party today or tomorrow because the NPP is in his blood. He loves the NPP more than any woman. Don’t you know that because of NPP he divorced his first wife? He left his wife because of NPP,” Kofi Jumah revealed on NEAT FM.
He made this disclosure after Kennedy Agyapong said he will form his own political party if Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey retains his seat as National Chairman, in the upcoming national elections of the party.
The outspoken MP for Assin Central expressed the desire that all of the national executives would lose their seats, and revealed that he had set aside $5 million to campaign and make sure none of the sitting national executives retain their seats.
In his view, the current NPP executives are incompetent and he would devote an amount of $20 Million to form a new political party that would be called People’s Liberation Party (PLP) if the National Chairman and his cohorts are voted back into office.
Nonetheless, Kofi Jumah who is popularly known as “Kofi Ghana” believes Hon. Kennedy Agyapong would not leave the party and further called on him to exercise restraint when dealing with issues of the party; even though most of the executives have performed abysmally in office because they managed to “weave their way into positions of influence without understanding the ideals and principles of the party”.
