Kerosene shortage hits farming communities

Nkoranza (B/A), Feb. 13, GNA - Some communities, especially farmers in the Nkoranza District are faced with an acute shortage of kerosene. The farmers, who normally buy the commodity after trading activities in the market went back home disappointed at the weekend because none of the stations had kerosene in stock.

Mr. Samuel Owusu Gyasi, Headteacher of the local Primary School at Nwoase, a settler farming community, said for more than a week he and his family had been sleeping in darkness.

Mr. Kofi Asare, Manager of the Goil Station at Nkoranza, said the shortage was nationwide, adding that he had been expecting a consignment of 6,000 gallons of kerosene from Tema for the past two months but to no avail.

He appealed to the Ministry of Energy to assist to help improve the situation.
