Nana Akufo-Addo, Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party has assured the people in the Volta Region of his commitment to ensure that the oil resource at Keta is explored to enhance socio-economic development in the area. According to him, he will immediately set up a research team to search for the commodity, come January if Ghanaians vote for the NPP to win power in the December polls.
Nana Akufo-Addo made this known at the Keta Constituency as part of his of tour of orphan constituencies in the Southern Volta Region, on Monday. He stressed that the NPP will gather the same expertise that worked to discover oil deposits at the Cape Three Points in commercial quantities a discovery which has put the nation on a high economic pedestal.
‘‘I promise to replicate and improve upon all the innovative and socially enhanced programmes the NPP under President Kufuor have undertaken which have improved the living conditions of Ghanaians’’, Nana Akufo-Addo said.
The eloquent and astute politician also promised to put in place effective structures to improve the peace and social harmony in the country especially in the election year.
The NPP, he explained, does not believe in divide and rule tactics practised by some politicians, and will ensure that democracy is further deepened, nurtured and adhered to for the advancement of this nation.
Addressing another well attended durbar held in his honour at Anlo Township, Nana Akufo-Addo called for enhanced social cohesion to inspire public confidence and hard work towards attaining the national development agenda.
Nana observed that most countries which do well in terms of development maintain discipline and inspire others to do well in all their endeavours. This, he said, is the only key to social, economic and political development of this nation and will quicken Ghana’s ability to compete with rest of the world.
The NPP Parliamentary candidate for the Keta constituency, Mr Kudjoe Fianoo, who accompanied Nana Akufo-Addo on the tour, maintained that the Ghanaian economy has been the best under the presidency of Kufuor government.
He explained that no government can be compared to the NPP in terms of its sterling performance in socio-economic growth. Should Ghanaians vote for Nana Akufo-Addo in the December elections this will further grow.
In the Akatsi constituency, Nana Akufo-Addo, who is also the MP for Akim Abuakwa-South assured the nation of his commitment to make secondary education free for all students, irrespective of their background if he wins power in the December elections.
‘‘ I intend to spend more time in the Volta Region in my campaign to spread the message of free secondary education for all students to increase the literacy rate in Ghana and enhance our development’’, he assured teeming party supporters.
