Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yaw Letsa has said that the construction of Ketu-North Municipal hospital which is located at Keta will be completed by the end of the year 2020.
The regional minister made this known at the opening ceremony of the 2019 Annual Regional Health Sector Performance Review held at Skyplus Hotel in the Volta Region.
The hospital project together with four other district hospital projects started under the erstwhile John Mahama administration and were funded by the Raiffesen Bank International AG of Austria. In early January, 2017, then President Mahama cut sod for the commencement of the project.
Ketu North Municipal Hospital when finally completed will boast Outpatient Department (OPD), Ultramodern Eye Centre, Dentistry, Pharmacies, Laboratories, Theaters, Accident and Emergency Units, Inpatient Units and Maternity Block, and adjunct clinical services among others.
However, at the same event, the regional minister seized the opportunity to emphasize the government's recognition of the health sector as one of the key propellers in the development of the nation which is evident in the numerous infrastructure and financial commitments as well as interventions being made by the government to strengthen the sector.
Dr. Letsa also urged the health professionals to heighten their alertness as well as intensify surveillance and screening at various points of entry into the country located in the region.
He also urged them to replicate same in health facilities in the regions in order to prevent the looming spread of the Coronavirus also known as CODVID-19 into the country.
In attendance of the event were health professionals, regional health
administrators from both Volta and the newly created Oti regions.
