The Director of Radio at Ken City Media, Kwabena Kwakye, fondly called KK, is the target of a killer squad assembled to, according to information reaching DAILY GUIDE, eliminate or render him physically incapable of sustaining his occupation at the media network.
A report about the possible assassination has been reported to the Kwabenya Police Station following persistent signs about the dastardly plans by certain political elements, according to the radio host.
It is the latest in a string of reactions against the radio station, whose Boiling Point and National Agenda programmes have become a thorn in the flesh of National Democratic Congress (NDC) activists at the corridor of power.
When DAILY GUIDE contacted KK yesterday, he confirmed the story and went on to explain that he had earlier contacted the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, Patrick Timbillah, who referred him to the Kwabenya Police Station because he lived in that portion of the city.
Ken City Media, operators of Oman FM and Net Two TV, has been at the receiving end of what looks like National Communications Authority (NCA) machinations against it following the arrest of the proprietor of the establishment, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, when he was hosted by Fiifi Boafo.
The radio station, for the first time since its establishment, had its transmissions intermittently taken off air in some parts of the city and the TV station also suffered what looked like deliberate attempts at messing up its operations.
Mr. Fiifi Boafo, host of the National Agenda morning programme, was invited by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) ostensibly to help the police unit in their investigations into the utterance by Kennedy Agyepong which unsettled the government.
But for the insistence of his lawyers that the right thing be done, he would have been detained overnight to ostensibly help the police in their investigations in the Kennedy Agyepong utterance.
Mr. Kwabena Kwakye told DAILY GUIDE that hints about the plan to assassinate him were dropped by Hon. Maxwell Kofi Jumah, who he said claimed to be privy to the details of the diabolic plans against him.
An assassination squad was set up for the operation after a reconnaissance of his residence was made earlier; unfortunately however the leader of the mission developed cold feet and eventually opted out, DAILY GUIDE has been told.
The suspicious-looking persons who appeared to be on the prowl around his house, giving basis to the foregone suspicion, have been captured on camera.
Kwabena Kwakye has not been a friend of the political establishment since his Adom FM days where his political programme became a household phenomenon.
Ever since he floated the Boiling Point programme on Oman FM after migrating from Adom, it has become a rallying point for Ghanaians with a passion for local politics.
The Tuesday and Thursday evening Boiling Point programme hosted by him as the flagship of the radio station, have become synonymous with his name.
Media watchers did not take kindly to the subtle manoeuvres to withdraw the operating licence of the network, and especially coming at the heels of the infamous barring of Multimedia reporters from state activities by government, press freedom is particularly under a glaring spotlight.
