Kintampo Rural Bank assists school

Techiman (B/A) June 7, GNA - Kintampo Rural Bank in Brong-Ahafo has donated 100 bags of cement worth GHC 1,300 to Bouyem Senior High School. The donation forms part of the Bank's social responsibility to make education more accessible to rural communities in its catchment area. Mr Eugene Kofi Osei, Manager of the Bank, who made the presentation, said since its establishment in 1979 the Bank had opened three agencies at Buipe, Jema and Kenten, whilst a mobilization centre had also been opened at Amoma in the Kintampo South District.

He said the Bank, apart from meeting its social responsibilities to customers has also assisted various Senior High Schools and cited the provision of a hostel facility and 25 double beds for Jema Senior High and the fencing of the Kintampo Hospital. The Bank has also awarded bursaries to 50 students in the Region under its scholarship scheme, the Bank Manager added, and commended the Kenten Branch of the Bank for its impressive performance. Mr Patrick Kwabena Adjei, Headmaster, who received the items, expressed gratitude to the Bank and its Board for the gesture. He said the donation was timely as the school was finding it difficult to put up a dormitory for the students and appealed to other organizations to come their aid.

Mr Moses Okrah, Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association of the School, said the school being a community initiated project lacked facilities such as a dinning hall, hostel facility and additional classroom blocks. Mr David Ayipoku, Vice Chairman of the Bank, suggested to the Bank of Ghana to encourage financial institutions to spend larger portion of their profit to develop rural communities. 7 June 10
