Accra, July 8,GNA-Kintampo would be the best substitute for Accra as a national capital hence its planning and development should be a national priority, Mr Stephen Kunso, Member of Parliament for area, said on Friday.
"It satisfies all the requirements needed for the establishment of a national capital, considering its geographical position as the most central point of Ghana, its rich and impressive historical background and economic importance," he said.
The member, who was making a statement in Parliament on the deplorable state of affairs in Kintampo, said, the rehabilitation of the town should be seen as a useful exercise.
He asked that proper roads and drains should be constructed to save the town from further erosion.
According to the member, electricity supply to the town brings more harm than good, as there are frequent power surges and cuts. He called for the completion of the rural development programme abandoned some years ago.
The member said the few less motivated policemen in Kintampo are not capable of ensuring security, law and order in the town and asked that government attended to their needs.
Mr Kunso appealed that a sports stadium be constructed to unearth talents in the town and environs.
