Kintampo waterfalls tragedy: Family members storm Wenchi Hospital in search of dead bodies

Relatives of the Wenchi Methodist Senior High School students who met their untimely death at the Kintampo Waterfalls in the Brong Ahafo region after trees crashed on them following a heavy storm on Sunday trooped to the morgue in an attempt to identify their relations who died at the scene.

The family members had gathered at the facility as at 7am on Monday morning to be part of a mass body identification exercise for burial due to the gory nature of the accident.

The heavy trees fell from the top of the waterfalls and landed on revelers, mostly students who had gone to swim.

Out of the 20 persons who died in the accident, 15 of them were students of Wenchi Senior High School, as confirmed by Chief Superintendent Desmond Owusu Boampong, Divisional Police Commander of Kintampo.









The family members argued the bodies of the bereaved be released for burial without delay since their conditions were in a horrible state.

Checks by abusuafmonline.com Tuesday morning indicate 9 out of the 15 dead bodies have been identified and subsequently carried away to their various communities to be buried.
