The defeated New Patriotic Party parliamentary aspirant in the Klottey Korle race Valentino Nii Noi Nortey will contest the seat as an independent candidate, Starrfmonline.com can confirm.

Nortey, a former constituency chairman, won the initial primary organized in August last year, but lost in a re-run after his main contender Philip Addison managed to get the results annulled.

Addison was declared winner of the re-run, having polled 396 votes as against Nortey’s 367 votes out of the total valid votes of 763. The rejected ballots were two.

Nortey feels he was given a raw deal by party officials, prompting his supporters to push him to go independent.

According to Kasapa FM’s Maame Broni, sources close to the candidate have revealed he is going to contest the 2016 parliamentary elections against Addison and other parties as an independent contestant.

His campaign posters have already leaked and Starrfmonline.com can report he intends announcing his decision at a press conference on Tuesday, March 8.
