Kofi Adams: Nana Konadu demonstrated motherly traits

by picking up nomination forms with small crowd

Spokesperson to the Rawlings¹ and member of the Nana Konadu campaign team, Mr. Kofi Adams says Nana Konadu demonstrated her motherly traits by choosing to pick her nomination forms on a low note last Tuesday. Reacting to the picking up of nomination forms by president Mills yesterday, which saw large crowds thronging the party¹s headquarters on the ring road, Mr. Adams said, in difficult times such as these, the former first lady did not want to disrupt commercial activities or cause any inconvenience for Ghanaians, hence her decision to pick up nomination forms at the party headquarters with a fewer crowd. He added that, the motherly nature of Mrs. Rawlings and her desire to develop the country, contributed to the decision to ³launch her campaign on a different day at a point and a place where less traffic would be caused. Speaking to Xfm¹s Emefa Apawu on the ŒBig Bite¹, Mr. Adams said, ³she could have also chosen to invite her supporters on the day she was picking forms to jam up the party headquarters, do jamboree all through the streets to the international conference center for the launch, but she measured and realized that she must reduce the inconvenience this will cause already burdened Ghanaians and that was why she chose two days to do it, Tuesday to pick the forms and Wednesday to launch her campaign² Mr Kofi Adams also took a swipe at Education Minister, Betty Mould Iddrisu¹s assertion that the NDC party does not belong to an individual, but rather has founding fathers. Citing examples of a change of baton in the leadership of the party since 2000, he agreed with the assertion but explained that no individual could lead the party for up to sixteen years because the party was not a personal property of any individual. He opined that whoever made the assertion was speaking to persons who shared the platform with him or her and added that others who were qualified should be given the opportunity to be able to lead the party.

As to whether the change of camps (from the Rawlings¹ to Atta¹s) of some perceived loyalists ³sends shivers down the spine² of their campaign team, Mr. Adams answered in the negative explaining that what they were doing was ³GodlyŠ and everything that is godly, you have the opportunity of weeding out and certain things being exposed to you² Using the analogy of Jesus and his twelve disciples in which he (Jesus) was betrayed while others denied him out of fear, Mr. Adams explained that the former first lady was not perturbed by the betrayal and denial of some loyalists since what she was doing was godly.
