Ghana’s Aviation Minister and incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo Central Constituency in the Upper East Region, Joseph Kofi Adda, has picked nomination forms to contest the 2020 Parliamentary elections.

The nomination forms were picked Friday at the Navrongo New Patriotic Party (NPP) office by friends, family and loyalists of the highly-spirited, humble, affable, accessible and dynamic politician, who want him to contest again.

The picking occasion was characterized by a silent procession of the NPP faithful, friends and sympathizers who gathered from different parts of the constituency, through the principal streets of Navrongo Township.

Joseph Kofi Adda, who became the MP in 2003 through a by-election, after the demise of John Setuni Achuliwor, went unopposed in 2004 and 2008, will be facing stiff competition from two other people including the Upper East Regional Minister, Ms. Tangoba Abayage, who has declared her intention and picked forms to join the contest.

Previously, it was rumoured Mr. Adda would go unopposed but with the indication of intend by the regional minister and others who may soon join the race, it is clear Mr. Adda is in for a tight competition in the April 20 primaries.

Speaking to Journalists after picking the forms, leader of the group, Ing. David Adda, disclosed that the good works and tremendous developmental projects Kofi Adda has brought to the constituency and beyond informed their decision to support his bid for re-election to Parliament.

He stressed that the MP had done a lot for the people of the constituency, plus his wide knowledge and vast experience on issues of development, deserves the chance to continue the good works.

Ing. Adda while commending the group for their contribution toward Kofi Adda’s candidature, urged branch executives and sympathizers to unite and work harder to maintain him to push the development agenda of the area forward.

“Because of what Joseph Kofi Adda has done for this constituency and beyond, we have found it necessary to support his bid. We have gone to pick this form in his absence with our own mobilized funds. We will get him duly informed, he will fill it and we are very sure that he will win the primaries and go on to win the general elections to support President Nana Addo for four more years,” He said.

“We are motivated to do more because of his good works and we know the people will give him a chance to drive the development agenda of Navrongo”.
