Kofi Annan Arrives In Ghana Today

The UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan arrives in Accra today to begin a ten-day private visit to the country. He will be accompanied by his wife, Nane. The visit will be the first since he started his second term of office term of office in January 2002.

The visit of the UN Secretary General will also afford him the opportunity to confer with President J. A. Kufuor and Ghanaian authorities on topical issues including globalisation, the African Union, NEPAD as well as the promotion of good governance.

While in Ghana, Mr. Annan will honour a long-standing invitation to a durbar by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
