Kofi Frimpong re-elected NPP parliamentary candidate for Kwabre East

Mamponteng, (Ash), May 14, GNA- Mr Kofi Frimpong, Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwabre constituency, was on Tuesday re-elected as the New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidate to contest the seat in the 2008 Election.

Mr Frimpong, who stood unopposed was re-elected by popular acclamation by NPP polling station chairmen of the constituency who constituted the Electoral College, at Mamponteng.

Mr Robert Yaw Amankwaa, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, commended NPP members in the constituency for ensuring peaceful selection of the candidate.

He said commended the delegates for endorsing the candidature of the incumbent MP adding that it was and indication that they wanted to work with him for the development of the constituency. Mr Sam Cudjo, Ashanti Regional Secretary, said the problem facing the party currently was indiscipline and refusal by some party supporters to adhere to the rules governing the selection and election of parliamentary candidates.

He said some polling station chairmen were supporting candidates unqualified persons to contest primaries and commended the Kwabre East NPP members for their exemplary action.

Mr Frimpong thank the delegates for the confidence repose in him and said his achievements as MP was through the collaborative efforts and support from the polling station chairmen.
